PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent oil from flowing out into a river or the like by turning on a switch by sensing oil content by making use of the difference in specific gravity between water and oil to raise an alarm and/or close an electric valve. SOLUTION: In an oil content sensor 1, an adjustable float which is afloat on water and sinks in oil is provided on a float which is afloat at least on oil in a vertically movable manner, and a switch is operable by the sink of the adjustable float caused by the flow-out of oil. The switch 8 of the oil content sensor is electrically connected to an alarm machine to form an oil flow-out alarm device capable of operating the alarm machine by sensing the oil content. A careful flow-out of oil is sensed to prevent its flow-out. The oil content sensor is provided at a discharge port of a terminal position of an oil retaining wall, a baffle plate is provided in the middle of a water discharge channel against the flow to form a stagnation, water flows below the baffle plate, and the oil content sensor is provided in the stagnation before the baffle plate.
