PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new Zn-Al or Zn-Al-Mn alloy plated steel wire in which problems on corrosion resistance and surface cleanliness are solved, and whose coating weight is nonconventionally high, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The Zn-Al alloy plated wire 41 is formed by subjecting a Zn-Al alloy plated steel wire which has been hot-dip coated by a double hot-dip process and surface-roughened by air flow cooling, to after drawing by wet type wire drawing not provided with a lubricant removing step. The coating weight of a lubricant to the surface of the Zn-Al alloy plated steel wire 41 in the wet type wire drawing is≤0.25 g/m<SP>2</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
