PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified polyester having high functionality, having sufficiently high transparency, gas barrier property, productivity and low cost property jointly, and further a highly functional resin mixture. SOLUTION: This modified polyester obtained by heating and kneading (component A) 99 to 20 pts.wt. aliphatic polyester-based resin, (component B) 1 pt.wt. to 80 pts.wt. polymer having at least≥1 kind of a functional group selected from hydroxy, amino, carboxy or epoxy group and≤100,000 number-average molecular weight (provided that the sum of the component A and component B is 100 pts.wt.), (component C) 0.1 pt.wt. to 20 pts.wt. at least≥1 kind of an unsaturated compound selected from an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative, or an unsaturated alcohol and (component D) 0.01 pt.wt. to 5 pts.wt. free radical-forming agent is provided by chemically bonding at least a part of the main chain of the component A with at least a part of the component B through the component C.
