PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil composition capable of attaining premixed compression autoignition combustion presenting sufficiently excellent exhaust gas characteristics with low combustion noise. SOLUTION: The fuel oil composition for compression autoignition engine is 10 mass ppm or less in sulfur content, 30-50 in the cetane number of the whole fuel, 45 vol% or less in the total aromatics content in the whole fuel, 3 vol% or less in bicyclic aromatics content and 20 vol.% or less in the content of aromatics with a boiling point of 150°C or higher. In this fuel oil composition, 30 vol.% or more of the total aromatics are included in fractions lower than 150°C in boiling point. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
