PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out electric discharge machining positively, easily, and with little omission of machining. SOLUTION: There is provided an electric discharge machining method, wherein, after a commanded location has reached a target location, measuring of a sampling period is started, and a current location is acquired. Then a difference between a value obtained by subtracting a preset allowance from the target location, and the current location is calculated. In this manner during the sampling, values of the current location are acquired and the differences are cumulated. A cumulative value of the differences is divided by the number of times of sampling after the lapse of a predetermined sampling period to find a mean value.
