Provided is a driving device for current controlled light emitting elements, by which contrast ratio is improved and luminance fluctuation is suppressed. The driving device is provided with a drive transistor (Bij), which is connected to a current controlled light emitting element (Pij) and is formed of a thin film transistor for supplying a driving current (Ip); and a current controlling circuit (Dij), which is connected to a connecting point (Q) between the current controlled light emitting element (Pij) and the drive transistor (Bij). When the current controlled circuit (Dij) detects a voltage (Vq) of the connecting point (Q) as a voltage between the anode and the cathode of the current controlled light emitting element (Pij) and that the detected voltage (Vq) is a threshold value of the current controlled light emitting element (Pij) or lower, supply of the driving current (Ip) to the current controlled light emitting element (Pij) is suppressed by discharging a branched current (Ic) from the side of the connecting point (Q). When the detected voltage (Vq) exceeds the threshold value of the current controlled light emitting element (Pij), the driving current (Ip) is supplied to the current controlled light emitting element (Pij) by discharging a branched current of a small current value substantially the same as the ranched current (Ic) from the side of the connecting point (Q).
|
