A broadcasting receiver and a method for operating a data broadcasting application are provided to allow a user to access various multimedia applications received on a broadcasting network by using one screen image. Information about a data broadcasting application according to channels is extracted from a received digital broadcasting data stream(S401). The extracted application information is stored in a data broadcasting application table according to channels(S403). A data broadcasting application list, which is selected from the table, is registered based on the input signal of a user interface and output as one screen information. The information about the data broadcasting application is based on a MHP(multimedia home platform) that is an application programming interface.
