PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of easily managing generations of documents while securing the security of the documents. SOLUTION: This document management method includes a step #104 of printing a document image together with a design pattern image denoting a password on paper, informing a person holding the right of copying the document about the password, allowing a requester requesting the copying of the document to enter the password; a step #101 of scanning the paper to acquire the document image and the design pattern image; and a step #105 of discriminating whether or not the requester has a right on the basis of the entered password and the password denoted by the acquired design pattern image, issues another password when the discrimination indicates that the requester has the right, printing the document image on another paper together with the design pattern image denoting the another password, and informing the person holding the right about the another password together with the document printed on the another paper.
