PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a recorded moving image cannot be quickly confirmed since recording is stopped to move into a power-off state when an attitude of a recording/reproducing device is determined not appropriate for recording, and supply of the power needs to be waited to confirm the recorded moving image. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device comprises: an attitude determination means 102 for determining the current attitude of the recording/reproducing device based on an attitude detection result detected by an attitude detection means 101; and a mode control means 103 for switching a mode based on results of the attitude determination means 102. When the current attitude of the recording/reproducing device is determined as the attitude capable of recording, the mode is switched into a recording mode by the mode control means 103. When the current attitude is determines as the attitude unsuited for recording but capable of reproducing, the mode is switched into a reproducing mode by the mode control means 103.
