PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce water consumption by effectively utilizing water, which has been discarded heretofore, in a reverse cell type ice maker. SOLUTION: This reverse cell type ice maker I includes: a cooling device 1 having a number of ice making chambers 1A opened downward; a water tray 5 disposed to tilt and reciprocate to close the ice making chambers 1A of the cooling device 1 from below, and provided with jet holes 8 positioned opposite to the respective ice making chambers 1A; the water tank 6 provided integral with the water tray 5 and receiving the water from the top face of the water tray 5 to store the water; a circulating pump 9 pumping up the water in the water tank 6 and jetting the water from the jet holes 8; and a water sprinkler 13 for sprinkling water on the top face of the water tray 5, wherein the circulating pump 9 is operated when the water tray 5 is put in a horizontal closed position for closing the ice making chambers A, thereby jetting water in the water tray 5 from the jet holes 8 to perform an ice making process, and the cooling device 1 is heated in an inclined open position for opening the ice making chambers 1A to perform an ice separating process. In the ice maker, at the time of transition from the ice making process to the ice separating process, even after the transition to the ice separating process, the circulating pump 9 is continuously operated for a predetermined time.
