PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gap blocking member which blocks a gap formed between a foundation and a building main body borne by the foundation via base isolation devices, and is free from collision against the base isolation devices on the occasion of an earthquake. SOLUTION: The gap blocking members 11, 21 are arranged in the gap between the building main body 10 borne on the foundation 3 via the base isolation devices 20, and the foundation 3, and each formed of a single or a plurality of box bodies 11, 22, 22 each having an open side surface facing to the base isolation devices 20 shown in Fig.1. Further, each box body 11 is detachably secured to an upper surface of the foundation 3. Alternatively the gap blocking member is formed of a single or a plurality of box bodies 31, 42 each having an open side surface facing to the base isolation devices 20, and an open lower surface, and the box bodies 31, 42 are detachably secured to a lower surface 7 of the building main body 10.
