<p>Disclosed is a multifunctionalized and highly functionalized optical waveguide device which is suppressed in deterioration of operating characteristics while having improved productivity. Specifically disclosed is an optical waveguide device comprising a thin plate (1) having a thickness of not more than 20 µm and at least one optical waveguide (2) formed in the thin plate. This optical waveguide device is characterized in that the thin plate is bonded and fixed to a supporting substrate (5) through an adhesive (4), and a film having a refractive index higher than those of the thin plate and the adhesive is arranged on the surface of the thin plate which is bonded and fixed to the supporting substrate in such a manner that the film is in contact with or close to at least a part of the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide device is preferably characterized in that the thin plate is made of a material having nonlinear optical effects or electro-optic effects.</p> |
