The method involves processing document output jobs by a document output management system (2), and providing a graphical user interface for configuration of the output jobs in a client system. The output jobs are converted into a format corresponding to the job configuration using a driver control component, and are transmitted to an output device. Output device-specific data of a preset format are read into a computer program module. Control data for controlling format conversion are produced based on the read-in data to produce the driver control component for the output device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program for executing a method for producing a driver control component for an output device in a document output management system (2) a document output management system comprising an interface for reading a driver interface.
