<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner density detection device raising latitude for environmental properties, precision and change with time and improving operability at the time of adjustment and detecting precision, and to provide an image forming apparatus provided with the device. <P>SOLUTION: The toner density detection device is provided with: a patch detection sensor element irradiating a toner patch formed on an image carrier with light, dividing reflected light reflected from the toner patch into a first optical component and a second optical component, receiving the first or the second optical component and outputting a first or a second light receiving signal; and a controller converting the output first or the second light receiving signal into first or second digital data by an analog/digital convertor on the basis of reference voltage and detecting density of the toner patch on the basis of the first and the second digital data. A toner density detecting value is adjusted on the basis of comparison between the first and the second reference value of the digital data stored beforehand and the first and the second digital data output from the analog/digital convertor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
