<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device to be positively actuated while restraining erroneous operation. <P>SOLUTION: This occupant protection device 1 is at least furnished with object detection means 4R, 4L to detect a relative position of an object in the circumference of the vehicle against the vehicle, a side collision estimation means 2a to estimate collision of the object against the side of the vehicle in accordance with the relative position of the object detected by the object detection means 4R, 4L, impact detection means 3R, 3L to detect impact on the side of the vehicle, a collision judgement means 2b to judge whether the object collides against the side of the vehicle or not in accordance with the impact on the side of the vehicle detected by the impact detection means 3R, 3L and occupant protection means 5R, 5L to protect the occupant of the vehicle. The occupant protection means 5R, 5L are actuated when collision of the object against a side surface of the vehicle is estimated by the side collision estimation means 2a and the collision of the object against the side surface of the vehicle is judged by the side collision judgement means 2b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
