PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure coating apparatus of a simple structure that enables a stripe-like coating film to be formed uniformly all over and in a high productivity using a photogravure roll having a groove between plate cylinders. SOLUTION: The gravure coating apparatus for forming a stripe-like coating film using the photogravure roll 2 having the groove 6 between the plate cylinders 5 and 5 has in the above groove 6 a scraping block 7 equipped with edges 8 at both sides touching the end faces 5a of the plate cylinders 5 in the nearly radial direction of the roll for scraping a coating liquid 3 on the above end faces 5a, a groove-like passway 9 for discharging the liquid located around the center of the bottom face of the groove 6 along the direction of rotation of the roll, and a taper face 10 for guiding the liquid from the edges 8 at both sides to the groove-like passway 9.
