PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control unit and a remote control system in which a user is not required to perform complicated operations when trying to add or update information for the remote control unit. SOLUTION: The remote control unit 100 transmits a transmission request of identification information to a device, such as an HDD recorder 40. Responding to the request, for example, the HDD recorder 40 in a room 10 transmits the identification information, and the remote control unit 100 receives the information, and determines whether or not the remote control information corresponding to the identification information is stored in its own device. When it is determined that the information is not stored, a signal for requesting transmission of the remote control information is transmitted to a server 90 along with the identification information. Responding to the signal, the server 90 transmits the remote control information of the HDD recorder 40 to the remote control unit 100. Therefore, the remote control information of the HDD recorder 40 is stored in the remote control unit 100 and a remote operation of the HDD recorder 40 can be achieved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
