PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both reduction in the thickness of a liquid crystal display panel and securing of a sufficient strength. SOLUTION: The display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate which faces the first substrate and is disposed nearer the observer side than the first substrate; an upper polarizing plate disposed nearer the observer side than the second substrate; and a resin film which is disposed nearer the observer side than the upper polarizing plate and is closely stuck to the upper polarizing plate. When the display panel is viewed from the front, the outer periphery of the upper polarizing plate is located more inside than the outer periphery of the second substrate, and the outer periphery of the resin film is outward of the outer periphery of the upper polarizing plate. A cushion material being in close contact with the second substrate and the resin film is interposed between the second substrate and the resin film on the outside of the outer periphery of the upper polarizing plate.
