PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping mechanism of a cutting insert preventing the cutting insert from being removed from a mounting seat due to cutting resistance in cutting. SOLUTION: In the clamping mechanism of the cutting insert 30, the cutting insert 30 is clamped on the mounting seat 11 which is formed at the end part of a holder 10 and has a pressing surface 19 and a pedestal surface 21 extending opposedly to each other. The cutting insert 30 is provided with a pressed surface 37 abutting on the pressing surface 19 and a seated surface 38 abutting on the pedestal surface 21. A cutting blade part 33 is formed at least at the one end of the longitudinal direction of the cutting insert 30, a projection part 22 is formed at the one side of the pedestal surface 21 and the seated surface 38, and a storage recessed part 39 capable of storing the projection part 22 at the other end. The projection part 22 is not held in the storage recessed part 39 in such a state that the cutting insert 30 is not clamped, and the projection part 22 is held in the storage recessed part 39 in such a state that the cutting insert 30 is clamped.
