PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in which the number of components can be decreased and thereby the cost can be reduced. SOLUTION: The image reader 100 comprises a glass holding member 32 for holding a contact glass 31 and color reference members 30a and 30b integrally, and a solenoid 36 for moving the glass holding member 32. When the solenoid 36 is turned on, the color reference member 30a moves above a document reading position A and the color reference member 30b moves above a document reading position B.
