PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that setting of an AF area for contrast AF is constrained in the hybrid AF. SOLUTION: When a plurality of phase difference AF areas 1 are included within the range of the selected contrast AF area 3, the size of the area overlapping the contrast AF area 3 in respective phase difference areas 1 is calculated based on a prescribed condition, then, the phase difference AF area 1 where the size of the overlapped area becomes the largest is selected, and focusing is performed by hybrid AF.
