PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device that can correctly read codes, using simple operations. SOLUTION: A cellular telephone 10 with camera includes a camera 12 that inputs target image information, a small-sized light 13 that emits light with the operation of an ON/OFF button 21, when reading bar codes, an LCD display part 15 that displays information, and a control section 31 having a CPU that controls the entire device. The control section 31 switches imaging procedures, according to objects such as natural images or bar codes; and when the procedures are switched to bar-code imaging, it recognizes the bar code, informs a user of a recognized result, and executes predetermined processing based on the contents recognized.
