PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector apparatus designed so as to prevent failure in detecting rotation of a color wheel, which is caused by soil on an optical sensor, and also prevent disturbance of pictures or cease of operations of the apparatus for a long time without requiring periodic decomposition cleaning. SOLUTION: The projector apparatus includes: a disk-like color filter 5a, which has a plurality of color areas and is rotatable; the optical sensor 12, which detects rotation of the color filter 5a; a light source 1, which projects light to the color filter 5a; a reflecting device 7, which reflects light 6 transmitted through the color filter 5a; and fans 17a and 17b, which send a current of air to the light source 1, reflecting device 7, or light source 1, thereby cooling the light source 1 or reflecting device 7 and cleaning the optical sensor 12.
