PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal acquisition system and a technique, and a waveform displaying method capable of compressing digitized data of analog signal to display much more faithfully the waveform thereof. SOLUTION: While both the data which is digitized by sampling analog signal input into an input port 12 at high speed at an ADC 18 and the compressed data which is decimation/low-pass filtered at a decimeter 20 and a low-pass filter 22 are stored into a main acquisition memory 26, the peak-detected data at a peak-detector 24 is stored into a peak-detecting data acquisition memory 28. Moreover, the waveform data stored in the memory 26 and the memory 28 is read out under controlling of a processor 40 to process with a graphical engine 34 and, finally, by superposing the waveforms as a foreground and a background waveform so as to be mutually identifiable with different brightness and colors through a display logic 36 to indicate on a display 38.
