PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting a honeycomb structure capable of reducing influence of measuring conditions, and capable of accurately measuring a longitudinal shape of the honeycomb structure in a short time. SOLUTION: This is the method for inspecting the honeycomb structure comprising a columnar honeycomb fired body wherein a large number of cells are arranged in parallel across cell walls in the longitudinal direction. A contact type measuring device equipped with a reference surface, a rail perpendicular to the reference surface, and a gauge head comprising a probe moving along the rail is prepared, an end surface of the honeycomb structure is abutted on the reference surface, the gauge head is moved to the direction approached to the reference surface, and the probe is abutted on the other end surface of the honeycomb structure, and thereby, the longitudinal shape of the honeycomb structure is measured.
