PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal ion detecting electrode of excellent detection sensitivity, capable of forming a template by a central metal ion dissociated from a metal complex immobilized on a base to express an identification property for the metal ion in response to a kind of the dissociated central metal ion, excellent in selectivity, and capable of detecting the metal ion of a low concentration, compared with a case using a conventional electrode not formed with the template, in the metal ion detecting electrode for detecting the metal ion, in particular, heavy metals such as Fe, Cr, Co, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd and Hg, in a specimen solution. SOLUTION: This metal ion detecting electrode 1 of the present invention is provided with the conductive base 2, metal oxide layers 3, 5, 7 formed on a surface of the base2, and the metal complex 4 immobilized with the metal oxide layers 3, 5, 7, and having the dissociated central metal ion.
