PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially excellent method for producing oxoquazepam which is a synthetic precursor of quazepam of an improver of sleep disturbance. SOLUTION: The method for producing the oxoquazepam (chemical name: 7-chloro-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-1-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one) includes using a mixed liquid of toluene and acetone, and reacting 7-chloro-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-3H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one with 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate.
