PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-dispersion liquid of metal oxide nanoparticles, having excellent stability and long-term storage stability. SOLUTION: The metal oxide nanoparticle water-dispersion liquid is obtained by dispersing the metal oxide nanoparticles (P) into the water in the state of being coated with a dispersant (A) having preferably a heterocyclic type cationic group (a), more preferably imidazolium cation. The metal oxide nanoparticles (P) are preferably selected from titanium oxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide, and aluminum oxide. and the metal oxide nanoparticles (P) and the dispersant (A) are bonded by covalent bonding and more particularly preferably bonded by M-O-Si bonding.
