PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for damping a sloshing without separately mounting a member such as a resistant plate. SOLUTION: A floating roof suppresses the volatilization of a liquid 12 in a tank and damps a sloshing, and comprises: a plate 13 to cover the liquid surface; and a hollow float 14 provided around the plate 13 to allow the plate 13 to be afloat on the liquid surface. The liquid is stored in the float 14, and the waves having the wavelength shorter than the resonance wavelength of the sloshing is generated in the float 14 by the occurrence of an earthquake.
