PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse an existing extension refrigerant piping in updating an existing air conditioner including an outdoor unit, an indoor unit, an extension refrigerant piping connecting these units and a refrigerant circuit using an HCFC-base refrigerant to an air conditioner usin an HCFC-base refrigerant, and to provide an adsorbent for adsorbing contaminants of the existing extension refrigerant piping having a structure of reducing refrigerant circulation resistance. SOLUTION: A contaminant collecting means containing an adsorbent having a through hole in the central part is disposed in the refrigerant circuit, the pressure loss of the refrigerant is restrained, and while the deterioration of performance of the air conditioner is restrained, the contaminant of the existing extension refrigerant piping is carried along the inner wall of the contaminant collecting means by the circulating refrigerant, so that the deterioration of adsorbing performance is hardly caused in spite of the through hole.
