PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein there is delay time from the start of motor driving to actual driving because there is play in a transmission mechanism from a motor in a shift by wire for positioning by pulling-in torque by a detent mechanism. SOLUTION: Predetermined current flows into the motor by a brake on signal to generate predetermined torque. Although the motor is rotated by the torque to absorb play in the transmission mechanism, a driving shaft is positioned and held in a P range by the detent mechanism.
