<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device for an image forming apparatus that includes wire electrodes and a grid electrode and makes it easy to check whether the position by which wire electrodes are extended in their predetermined positions. <P>SOLUTION: The charging device includes: a charging device housing 3c including a front wall 11 and a rear wall 12, an inner space 16 surrounded by the front and rear walls 11 and 12, and an opening face 17 inner space 16 of which is open, the opening face 17 being disposed opposite the surface of a photoreceptor; a grid electrode 3b covering the opening face 17 of the charging device housing 3c so as to be parallel to the surface of the photoreceptor; wire electrodes 3a separated from the grid electrode 3b and extended in predetermined positions in the space of the charging device housing 3c so as to be across the moving direction of the photoreceptor and parallel to the surface of the photoreceptor.
