<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus with one display unit capable of being switched to a normal mode and a power-saving mode. <P>SOLUTION: The printing apparatus comprises a power control means for making a switch to the normal display mode in which information is displayed by using the entire display region of the display unit and the power saving mode in which information is displayed in a display region to which supply of the electric signals is not interrupted by interrupting supply of electric signals to part of the display region of the display unit. As a result, the power of the part of the display region can be turned off, and information can be displayed in the remaining display region.
