<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition, which is useful for preparing an optical film having a high surface uniformity and a polarizing plate and an image display device using the optical film, reduces uneven drying and uneven thickness caused by drying air flow and does not worsen uneven coating. <P>SOLUTION: The coating composition contains a copolymer having a fluorine-containing alkyl group of a specific structure. The optical film is obtained by coating the coating composition on a transparent substrate at least in one layer. The polarizing plate is obtained by using the optical film.
