<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VA mode liquid crystal display device superior in display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a vertically aligned liquid crystal layer 3, a first electrode 11 provided on the liquid crystal layer side of a first substrate 1, a second electrode 12 provided on the liquid crystal layer side of a second substrate, and at least one alignment layer provided so as to come into contact with the liquid crystal layer. A pixel area has liquid crystal domains A and B where tilt directions (t1 and t2) of liquid crystal molecules within a layer plane of the liquid crystal and in the vicinity of a center in a thickness direction during voltage application are different from each other by about 180°, and the liquid crystal domains A and B are adjacent to each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
