PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor to be used for an automobile etc. which is excellent in vibration resistance by solving the problem that vibration resistance is insufficient. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is configured so that a capacitor element 1 having positive/negative leading electrode sections 1a, 1b provided on both end surfaces is housed in a metallic case 2 together with a driving electrolytic solution, an opening of the metallic case 2 is sealed with a terminal plate 3, and one electrode of the capacitor element 1 is led out from the terminal plate 3 and the other electrode is led out from the metallic case 2. The capacitor has a configuration in which circular drawing processing portions 2a, 2b are respectively provided on the external peripheral surfaces of the opening and the bottom of the metallic case 2, and the circumferential edges of the leading electrode sections 1a, 1b of the capacitor element 1 are each pressed and fixed on the internal surfaces of the drawing processing portions 2a, 2b. With this configuration, even if a large vibration is applied, the capacitor element 1 does not move in the metallic case 2 and excellent vibration resistance can be obtained.
