PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source apparatus and its support structure which does not project shadow of a support member by a light from a reflection surface. SOLUTION: The surface light source 10 includes a plurality of linear light sources 11 extending approximately in parallel, a reflector 12 provided below the linear light sources with the reflection surface 12a having a recessed section area so as to enclose the respective linear light sources, a diffusion lens 13 in a flat plate shape provided above these linear light sources, the supporting member 14 extending from a lower part to a lower surface of the diffusion lens for supporting the diffusion lens. The surface light source apparatus is structured so that the support member is molded from a resin material of which light transmittance is equal to or higher than 85%.
