A container terminal system using a high stacking system and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce re-handling work for a container terminal by allowing each container to be loaded and unloaded independently. A container terminal system comprises a high stacking system which has cells for storing freight. The cells form a certain number of floors, and an elevator moves between the floors. The freight is stored and withdrawn through the elevator. The high stacking system includes a loader and a bogie. The loader transfers the freight in cooperation with a convey device. The bogie transfers the freight from the loader to the elevator by moving on a traveling rail which has one or two lanes.
