<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more reliable and versatile medical closure device. <P>SOLUTION: The medical closure device 20 comprises a tubular member provided with a first set of struts 22 that extend between a first end portion 24 and a central portion 25 and a second set of struts 23 that extend between the central portion 25 and a second end portion 26, the respective struts 22 and 23 are provided with sections 27 and 28 that can act as a hinge, and the closure device is movable between a first elongated tubular configuration and a second configuration in which the first and second end portions are moved towards each other such that the first and second end portions are moved radially away from a longitudinal central axis of the closure device.
