PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of keeping its heating performance even under a very low temperature condition, stopping an operation without giving uncomfortable feeling, and constituting a refrigerating cycle with a simple circuit. SOLUTION: A first bypass circuit 6 connecting between an indoor heat exchanger 3 and a pressure reducer 4 and between a four-way valve 2 and an outdoor heat exchanger 5, is provided with a two-way valve 7 and a refrigerant heater 8, and a second bypass circuit 9 connecting between the four-way valve 2 and the indoor heat exchanger 3, and between the pressure reducer 4 and the outdoor heat exchanger 5 is provided with a two-way valve 10. The air conditioner is stopped after defrosting the outdoor heat exchanger 5 by performing a first bypass operation for opening the two-way valve 7 of the first bypass circuit 6 and a second bypass operation for opening the two-way valve 10 of the second bypass circuit 9, in terminating a heating operation, thus the stable defrosting operation can be performed without feeling cold air in accompany with the lowering of an indoor temperature by the simple bypass circuit, and the sufficient heating operation can be performed from the start of the next operation.
