A device for cleaning a filter and a dryer having thereof is provided to prevent malfunction of the dryer by cleaning foreign material from the filter by using water when the foreign material is accumulated to predetermined thickness and discharging the foreign material out of a cabinet. A device for cleaning a filter comprises a cabinet(50), a drum(60), a front panel, a filter, a dust weight sensor, a water supply pipe, a water supply valve, and a control unit. The drum is rotatably installed in the cabinet, wherein the laundry is put. The front panel is installed at an inner wall of the cabinet, wherein a discharge port is formed and the drum is rotatably connected. The filter is installed in the discharge port. The dust weight sensor is installed at the filter to sense amount of foreign matter accumulated in the filter. The water supply pipe is installed at the discharge port and supplying water. The water supply valve is installed at the water supply pipe. The control unit determines operation of the water supply valve according to the signal outputted from the dust weight sensor. |
