[Also in Division B5] A multiple fissile laminate comprises an upper ply of paper 11 coated with a sealer coating 12 to which is adhered a lower ply of polymeric film 13 which may be cast on the coating 12, and to which is applied a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive 14. The assembly is such that the bond between the sealer coat of the upper ply and the polymeric film of the lower ply has a tensile strength less than the tensile strength of the polymeric film at its breaking point, and also less than the strength of the adhesive bond formed between the pressure-sensitive adhesive and a glass substrate. such as a jar 18, to which the pressuresensitive adhesive film may be adhered The tensile strength of the polymeric film, at its breaking point, is also such that it is less than the strength of the adhesive bond formed between the pressure sensitive .adhesive and the glass substrate to which the pressure sensitive adhesive may be adhered. As shown, the laminate is used to form labels which split in the manner indicated if an attempt is made to .remove them,. The adhesive layer is protected prior to use of the laminate by a silicone coated paper sheet. In the formation of the laminate, the pressure sensitive adhesive 14 may be coated either on the polymeric film 13 or on the protective paper sheet. Both the upper paper ply 11 and the film 13 may bear printed matter, that on the film 13 being exposed on removal of the upper paper ply. A wide variety of materials may be used for the sealer coat including thermoplastic and thermosetting resins. The polymeric film may be made from the polymers of the lower alkyl (C 1 -C 4 acrylate esters, polyvinyl chloride, and ethers and esters of cellulose. The pressure sensitive adhesive may be based upon any elastomeric material. The film and pressuresensitive adhesive may be deposited or cast from lacquer or from an organosol, the film being dried before application of the adhesive. Quantitative examples are given.</p>
