摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor which gives a light-emitting device having improved light-emitting properties for practical purposes. <P>SOLUTION: A composite oxide for phosphors is represented by formula (1), aM<SP>1</SP>O-bM<SP>2</SP><SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-cM<SP>3</SP><SB>2</SB>O-dMoO<SB>3</SB>or formula (2), M<SP>1</SP><SB>2</SB>M<SP>2</SP><SB>3</SB>M<SP>3</SP><SB>3</SB>Mo<SB>8</SB>O<SB>32</SB>(wherein M<SP>1</SP>is Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg or Zn; M<SP>2</SP>is Al, Sc, Ga, Y, In, La, Ga, Tm or Lu; M<SP>3</SP>is Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs; a is in the range of 1-3; b is in the range of 1-2; c is in the range of 1-2; and d is in the range of 7-9). The phosphor is obtained by incorporating M<SP>4</SP>as an activating agent into the above composite oxide for phosphors. The phosphor is obtained by substituting part of M<SP>2</SP>or the entire M<SP>2</SP>in the above composite oxide for phosphors with M<SP>4</SP>(wherein M<SP>4</SP>is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of a rare earth element, Mn, and Bi). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
