PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation technique for acquiring jam-up information of high accuracy even in a situation where communication is impossible by creating jam-up information within a device based on the history of an actually-made travel. SOLUTION: This navigation device searches for a route and performs leading/guidance based on road map data, and comprises: a present position detection part 40 detecting the present position of a vehicle; an external storage device control part 5 therein storing the map data, the traveling history of the vehicle based on the present position, and jam-up related information related to road jam-up; a jam degree calculation part 47 calculating the degree of jam on a traveled route based on the traveling history and the jam-up related information; and a jam-up information database preparation part 50 preparing a database in which the degree of jam calculated by the calculation part 47 is related to a route corresponding thereto.
