PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve excellent through-image output in document photographing. SOLUTION: A document photographing apparatus 1 is equipped with an original platen 10, an imaging apparatus 100 for imaging an object on the original platen 10, and an image output device 200 for outputting an image imaged by the imaging apparatus 100. The imaging apparatus 100 compresses imaged image data so as to vary a compression rate. The image output device 200 acquires the imaged image data from the imaging apparatus 100 and discriminates, based on the acquired imaged image data, whether to output a through-image or to output a still image. When it is discriminated to output the through-image, the image output device 200 controls the imaging apparatus 100 so as to transfer through-image data after compressing them at a high compression rate.
