PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of acquiring a partner's nickname that changes with a change in human relations or the passage of time from a communication terminal without a complicated operation performed by a user and updating the memory dial of communication terminals, and to provide a communication terminal capable of achieving the above method. SOLUTION: The control unit 1 of the communication terminal 100 compares a proper noun extracted from data, which are transmitted by a communication unit 2, with nicknames that are produced from information stored in a memory dial 10, selects one of them as a partner's nickname, and registers it on the memory dial 10.
