PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line communication apparatus capable of adjusting a transmission gain in response to an operating state of adjacent network groups and attaining higher speed power line communication while avoiding interference between the adjacent network groups. SOLUTION: Each power line communication apparatus uses power lines 9 for signal transmission lines. The power line communication apparatus includes a monitoring means for monitoring an operating state of its own power line communication apparatus, and is configured such that the power line communication apparatus can communicate with the power line communication apparatuses of the other power line communication network groups about its own operating state and operating states of the other power line communication apparatuses by utilizing a frequency band different from an ordinary frequency band used by the power line communication.
