PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DVD recorder which making information continuous by automatically eliminating the fragmentation of information without user's special operation. SOLUTION: During recording of a new image in a DVD drive 4 by executing a program stored in a flash ROM 2 via a RAM 3, already recorded data is rebuilt while moving the already recorded data fragmented and recorded in a DVD to a hard disk 5. While predicting the capacity of the rebuilt already recorded data, new recorded data is written in the DVD drive 4 without overlapping in the writing area of the already recorded data. The already recorded data rebuilt by the hard disk 5 is written as continuous data in the DVD drive 4. Thus, when all the recording operations are finished, all the recorded data comprising the already recorded data and the new recorded data are in a state where all have been continuously recorded in the DVD.
