<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the entire length of a patch for detecting color shift in an image recording apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus includes: a conveying part for conveying a recording medium to a predetermined reference position along a conveying path; a plurality of image forming parts for transferring and forming a plurality of different color images on the recording medium as a recording pattern; a reflection intensity detection mechanism for detecting the reflection intensity of a plurality of recording patters transferred to the recording medium; and an image forming control part connected to the plurality of image forming parts through an interface. The image forming control part is equipped with a recording pattern forming part for forming a reference pattern corresponding to a predetermined reference position and a pattern for detecting color shift on the recording medium. The recording pattern forming part forms one patch obtained by forming a first pattern of a first cycle in a first color and superposing a second pattern of a second cycle in a second color on the first pattern, and forms the other patch obtained by forming a third pattern of the second cycle in the first color and superposing the fourth pattern of the first cycle in the second color therewith. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
