<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart card key system which prevents a battery from running out because a vehicle is left unattended in an ACC position after a person carrying a portable unit gets off the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When a knob-type ignition switch 56 is shifted to the ACC position from an ON-position so that an engine can be stopped, a CPU 80 transmits a transmission request signal Sr into a cabin after a lapse of one hour is measured by a second timer 92, and determines whether or not the vehicle is left unattended in the ACC position, on the basis of the presence or absence of a response signal Sa from the portable unit 18. When the CPU determines that the vehicle is left unattended in the ACC position, a relay 60 in a feeder 88 for supplying electricity to accessory equipment 46 from the battery 86 is shifted to an interruption position from a supply position.
